Beauty: My Top 3 High Street Lipsticks of 2012

December 18, 2012

IMG_20121218_181624

Hi Readers,

I thought I would share with you and review my 3 favourite high street lipsticks of 2012. You will probably notice that the shades are really similar but I really like my berry coloured lipsticks. This year I have really gotten into wearing lipsticks. I never use to wear it until I tried my sisters Bobby Brown lipstick and became obsessed with it until I lost it on a night out (sad times). From that moment I started to purchase my own lipsticks. I’m not a fan of glossy/shiny lipsticks. I like a matte finish and can put up with a little shine.  I’ve taken a lot of pictures as for this post I think it captures more of the product than words can… this post might be a little long – I apologise in advance (you can skip to the lipstick you wish to read about if you like).

Lets get started then…Revlon Cherry Blossom….

IMG_20121218_184020

IMG_20121218_181844

I love this Revlon lipstick as its has more of a pinkish tone to it. Its part of the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick collection and is called “Cherry Blossom 028″ – I got this lipstick a couple of months back and is one of my recent lipstick purchases. I love the packaging to this lipstick; its sleek and sophisticated and the lid has clear top so you can see the lipstick inside (as you can see in the first picture). It retails at around £7.49 and is available from most high street drugstores or directly from the Revlon website. I got this lipstick from superdrugs which is currently running a 3 for 2 promotion. So what does this lipstick offer:

 • A silky smooth, moisturising colour – which doesn’t leave the lips looking wet.
 • A liquisilk™ formula which seals in colour and softness the lips
 • A variety of shades

I think this lipstick is perfect during the winter months as it really moisturises the lips. I’m definitely going to repurchase this lipstick and check out their other colours.

Next up is the Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick…

IMG_20121218_182428

This has to be my most worn high street lipstick… As it is a matte lipstick it ultimately became my favourite. I purchased 3 of these lipsticks all in the same shade (that’s how much I love it!). I’m so happy Rimmel released a Matte range and just hope they don’t discontinue it. I got the lipstick in the shade 107. I would describe this colour as a red grape/wine sort of colour. Most bloggers have already raved about this lipstick but I can’t stress enough how much I love it. The packaging stands out from my other lipsticks as its coloured red and Kates name is in a very cute font. I love this lipstick and think it would suit many skin tones!! The only thing I did notice is that it does dry out the lips  if you wear it religiously like I did. Using a lip balm before applying the lipstick also helps. What the lipstick offers:

 • Enriched formula to intensify the colour whilst keeping a matte finish
 • Leaves a gorgeous velvety matte finish
 • 5 shades to choose from

As it is winter I wear this lipstick every other day – to not dry my lips out! This lipstick retails at £5.49 (both Superdrugs and Boots have a 3 for 2 promotion currently running on all cosmetics!).

Revlon Colourburst Lipstick….

IMG_20121218_182939

Finally, we have the Revlon Colourburst lipstick in the shade 095 Crimson. I love the quilted detailing on the packaging and the lipstick shade colour on the top of the lid. I love Revlons red toned lipsticks. I would say that Revlon probably do the best. This is more of a subtle reddy/brown or  rusty-red kind of colour. As I have a tanned complexion this lipstick is quite subtle and doesn’t scream out like the other two. This is more of a day wear lipstick for me.  It’s very moisturising and does leave a gloss but nothing that makes you want to wipe your lips clean. I tend to dab the lipstick in to remove any excess shine and create more of natural look. For some reason boots don’t seem to have this colour on their website but its worth checking out the other shades available here. What the lipstick has to offer:

 • High-impact colour
 • 12 unique shades available
 • Instant burst of rich, true colour with a feather light feel

So those are my top 3 high street lipsticks of 2012! Sorry if this post was long but I tried to give as much readable detail as possible!

Hi Readers,

I have been on the hunt for the perfect ankle boots that I can wear to work. I normally wear ballet shoes/pumps but they are just not practical in the winter. When I was doing a bit of christmas shopping I saw these amazing boots in Matalan (which is one of the UK’s leading clothing and homeware retailers). I have difficulty buying boots as I have what I like to call “deer legs”. They go extremely skinny at my ankle and I hate boots that don’t look fitted around the leg. Ankle boots are my only option when it comes to boots as they tend to fit perfectly. Anyway, getting back to the boots, they retail @ £22 and come in two colours, either black or tanned. The boots come with metal toe and zip back detailing. They also have a 1-2cm back heel. They are perfect for everyday wear and have enough room to wear a nice pair of chunky winter socks. I love the fact these boots are right on trend and only cost £22. These boots look of great quality and don’t look cheap like some boots you get in high street retailers. It’s really hard to find a pair of boots that don’t cost more than £30 too so for this price I wasnt going to leave them behind. I was also surprised, as ASOS sell a similar boot up to 6x the price. I have copied the picture of the ASOS BOOT below. You can see how similar they look.  I guess with the ASOS boots you are paying for the fact that they are leather but Matalan have done a superb job in making a replica. you can purchase the Matalan boots by clicking here.  If you wish to purchase or view the ASOS boots just click here.

Beauty: Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover Review

Hi Readers,

I purchased the Bourjois Magic Nail Polish remover back in September now… but as I am so in love with this product I thought I would write a review on it. I always hate removing my nail polish… I find it’s the worst part of doing your nails. I hate the mess that comes with it too (cotton wool/pads). I would buy cheap nail polish remover and end up going through the bottle very quickly. I happened to stumble upon this nail polish remover in the morning before work. I had a work meeting and forgot to remove my tatty nail polish that was begging for me to take it off. I was looking for some quick and easy nail polish remover pads but ended up stumbling across this product instead.  I had previously seen a few beauty bloggers upload a picture of this product on Instagram so I thought I would give it a try. I was hesitant at first as I thought it was really expensive for just nail polish remover. It retails around £4.99 and comes in a cute little pink bottle. This product was only exclusive to Boots (UK Drugstore) at first but I think its available from any high street shop that stocks Bourjois cosmetics now. If you wish to purchase this product online then I would suggest getting it from ASOS as you get free delivery.

How to use the product:

 • Dip each finger into the sponge, twist and remove.
 • Nail polish is instantly removed without the need for cotton wool.

It’s as simple as that really… No mess and no fuss! It removes the polish within a second but I do find with glitter nail polishes it does take a little longer but that’s understandable. The product also leaves your nails feeling really nourished and moisturised as it contains sweet almond oil. This is my favourite part of the nail polish remover – My nail condition has improved so much! I always rub the oil into my nails once I remove my fingers from the bottle. It’s also scented with red fruit and vanilla fragrance which smells gorgeous. Just don’t sniff out the bottle which I did like an idiot!! It sends you into a coughing fit.

This product has lasted me 3 months so far and I still have a lot of product left – I also saved on the cost of cotton pads/wool. If you haven’t tried this product I suggest you give it a go! It’s perfect for carrying in your bag too.

If you use this product I would love to know your thoughts on it…? Are you lovin’ it as much as I am?

Fashion: Topshop Winter Jacket & Primark Scarf

December 5, 2012

Hi readers,

So I have been on the hunt for the perfect winter coat since September. I Purchased two coats from ASOS which I really liked the look of until I tried them on. I don’t know why but I never like the way long coats look on me! I just think I’ve always been into jackets so never really feel 100% comfortable in a coat. Anyway, I returned these coats back to ASOS! The one good thing about ASOS is that you get free delivery and returns… so I’m never afraid of purchasing anything from the site as you don’t lose out on any money!

After browsing in shops and online I finally decided to scrap the idea of getting a coat and to go with a nice warm winter jacket instead. I really like the look of aviator jackets with Borg lining and wanted something along those lines. I already have a leather jacket which I purchased from Zara’s a few years back so didn’t really want another leather jacket. I then saw two jackets in Topshop which I really liked, both in denim. One had Borg fur only on the collar. The jacket was called MOTO Vintage Borg Western Jacket it retails @ £55.00 which isn’t bad for the quality and design of the jacket. I didn’t go with this jacket as I’ve seen quite a few people already wearing it and wanted something slightly different! However, I do still like this jacket…and if there is one in the sales after christmas I will probably pick one up (fingers crossed!).

Ok, It’s time to show you the Jacket which I did purchase… *Drum Roll Please*

MOTO Borg Denim Biker Jacket @ Topshop – £65.00

What I love about this Jacket is that I have everything I wanted rolled into one jacket. I got the Biker look of a leather jacket but in denim with the aviator collar and Borg lining! Just WOW! The Jacket comes in two colours either Indigo with Black Borg lining or the one I got which has white Borg lining. The Jacket retails at £65.oo and I got it in a size 8. It’s still roomy enough to be able to layer underneath which is perfect for the winter season! The Jacket comes with the biker detailing on the elbows and zips on sleeves. You also have two zipped pockets which you can open. I am so happy with my purchase and cant wait to wear it! If you wish to purchase Topshop’s Borg Denim Bikers Jacket then just click here.

Checkered Scarf @ Primark – £3

I then picked up this checkered scarf from the mens section in Primark for just £3. I love the colours, print and fringe detailing of this scarf! Erm, not much else I can really say on this! I just really like it and think it will look good with my leather bikers jacket and will hopefully keep me warm this season!

NOTD: Christmas Sparkle

Revlon:050 Fascinate & Models Own: NP138 Freak Out

Hi Readers,

As the festive season has fast approached us I thought I would share with you a great way to incorporate a little sparkle to your nails! I love how recently there is so much variety when it comes to nail products such as 3D Glitter, Matte finish, nail foils/wraps or your traditional coloured nail polish! The high street shops offer so much to experiment with – so why not dress your nails this season!

IMG_20121026_221037

Finished Look: Revlon base colour with Models Own Topcoat

I think this look fits in well with the whole galactic style which is really in at the moment. I love the combination of the two nails polishes. The Revlon nail polish is a nice purply/blue shade, the shade is called “Fascinate”. I applied this colour as the base colour to all my nails. The Revlon polish has a really nice brush applicator which makes applying the product really easy. I only applied one coat of the polish as the colour was high pigmented. I’ve not purchased many Revlon nail polishes in the past but I was really impressed with the nail polish and its durability so I will definitely be purchasing more colours in this brand.

I then applied Models Own nail polish in the shade Freak Out on top of the Revlon colour (once it had dried) . The product is part of Models Own Mirrorball nail polishes, which is their first collection of nail frostings. The collection promises to take boring nails to bling! Heard of pimp my ride? Well  the Mirrorball collection is the “Xzibit” of pimping out your nails. You can wear this nail polish on its own or over your favourite shade of colour to add a frosted finish. The frosting is literally different colours of glitter (purple, teal, blue and fuchsia). However, the glitter comes in different sizes so it adds texture to your nails. I love this nail polish!

…so once you’ve applied Freak Out on top of the base colour – you’re pretty much done! Just allow to dry!

Fashion: Converse Swag

December 3, 2012

IMG_20121103_140814

Converse: @ Footlocker – £67.99

Hi Readers,

Converse are like my favourite brand when it comes to trainers. I purchased my first pair over 8 years ago and still wear that pair today! That’s how durable they really are. I have 5 pairs of Converse Trainers atm but these are my first “fashionable” pair. I say “fashionable” as I can’t imagine getting these dirty or tatty like my other pairs. I always like my converse when they look worn in but with these I don’t want a speck of dirt to land on them lol. They were incredibly pricey too – so I guess keeping them clean is a must!!!

I instantly fell in love with them when I was browsing in Footlocker on my lunch break and when I returned to work they were all I thought about so I knew they were the ones. I went back for them soon as I finished work… They are White/Black/Antique Brass coloured… the zip allows you to reveal a padded collar around the back of the trainer. They also come with 2 coloured shoe laces either white or black so you can swap between the two for different looks.

Although they were pricey, I think they are definitely worth the price tag. They feel and look of great quality and as I said earlier Converse Trainers are very durable. They are extremely comfortable to wear and very versatile as they go with practically anything! If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative then I suggest any of their All Star range (Low or High Tops) which retail around £40. These come in a variety of colours and styles!

If you would like to purchase or find out more about the converse I have mentioned then click here

Beauty: Clinique Chubby Stick INTENSE

December 1, 2012

IMG_20121201_140942

Chubby Stick Intense: Cute Chubby Stick Pouch

Hi Readers,

I have been waiting ages to get my hands on the New Intense range of Chubby Sticks. I blogged about the release of this range a couple of months ago but didn’t realise there were going to be 8 shades released until visiting the Clinique counter in Boots. I knew they were being released in Mid November so the second week into the month I visited the Clinique counter on the hunt for them. I managed to actually purchase them  last week. I am so happy to add these colours to my growing collection of lip products.

For those of you who aren’t that familiar with Chubby Sticks let me tell you a few facts about them:

 • Chubby Sticks are like lip glosses without the stickiness.
 • They are known for their moisturising properties and leave the lips feeling hydrated.
 • The normal range adds a sheer colour to the lips – so are a perfect alternative to lipsticks if you want more of a natural look or don’t like wearing lipstick.
 • The New Intense range leaves a soft glossy finish with a bright intense colour.
 • They retail at £16.00 each and come in variety of shades to suit different skin tones.

IMG_20121201_134333

Grandest Grape and Chunkiest Chilli

The Intense range comes in 8 new shades… I chose Chunkiest Chilli and Grandest Grape. I wanted more but I couldn’t justify spending anymore money. At the moment Clinique are offering a cute Chubby coloured pouch (comes in Purple or Pink) when you purchase two Chubby Sticks . It’s a nice travel size pouch which fits perfectly within your handbag. If you’re like me and carry your make up around with you then this pouch is a great way of keeping your bag organised and tidy.

IMG_20121201_135515

Swatch: Grandest Grape

Grandest Grape reminds me a lot of the Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick shade 107 but with a hint of purple. However, it’s not as intense and leaves the lips looking moisturised. I think the Chubby Sticks are perfect during the winter season as my lips get very dehydrated with the cold weather and central heating and this product is very moisturising. I love anything that is a wine/berry colour (Mumsy Colours) so this one is definitely my favourite.

IMG_20121201_135826

Swatch: Chunkiest Chilli

Chunkiest Chilli is more of a natural shade on my lips as it enhances my natural lip colour. However, when I wore this colour I wasn’t that impressed with how glossy it looked. It made my lips look wet which is a no-no for me. I am a lover of Matte lipsticks and hate anything with too much shine. I have only worn this once, so the next time I apply it I will try rubbing just a little product on the lips instead.

Overall, I am a very BIG fan of these lip balms. I think every make up lover needs to try these beauties!!!

You can read my earlier post on this product here
